Superbike Junior Cup Champion aims to emulate stellar 2015 season

Beyerspark superbike starlet Byron Bester (15) will look to emulate a stellar 2015 season when his 2016 campaign gets underway late next month, with a Super GP National Championship meet, in Delmas.

The Reach Academy student enjoyed seven podium finishes out of his eight races last year, in the 250 Junior Cup Championship, before finishing first, to be crowned Regional Champion for the 2015 season.

Arguably his most successful season yet in his promising career, 2015 also saw him race in a single round of the National Super GP series where he qualified in fifth position from 22 starters, including a podium finish for one of the heats.

Furthermore, he participated at international level, as a wildcard entry, in the Pata European Junior Cup in Jerez, Spain, on a Honda 650cc.

He qualified 21st of 31 starters, before managing a 13th place overall finish with no previous track knowledge or experience on the bike.

The new campaign will pose a double challenge for Bester, in the form of the Super GP and the FIM (Federation of International Motorcycling) European Junior Cup events.

The season will include local races all over the country, as well as visits to Germany, France, Italy and the United Kingdom, to name a few.

A podium in his first Super GP and 13th place in the European Junior Cup are the marks to beat for Bester this year… only time will tell.
