Keano dances his way to Croatia

This comes after the nine-year-old participated in the annual Dance Star competition, in late September, when he obtained first place in the hip-hop category.

The Dance Star competition is a platform for dancers from across South Africa to showcase their talent in various dance categories, from tap, ballet and hip-hop to contemporary and more.

The event saw all the local dancers who finished in qualifying places booking their spot to be part of Team South Africa, who will be travelling to Croatia.

Rose also competed in the annual Dance of the Year competition, held by the South African Dance Teacher’s Association (SADTA), at Carnival City, in early September, when he placed first in the 11-and-under hip-hop section and was subsequently crowned the 2015 Dancer of the Year.

He competed against 48 boys and girls in total.

He also finished in second place with his partner in the hip-hop couple’s section.

Rose doesn’t excel only in dancing on the floor, but on paper too; he obtained 90 and 96 per cent respectively in his hip-hop exams in 2013 and ’14.

Last year he was one of 10 dancers from Centre Stage Dance Studios who represented the country in Italy and England.
