Cosmos beat Boksburg in cup semi-final

Freeway Park outfit Jomo Cosmos Elsburg Football Club knocked Boksburg out of the ELFA Cup, with a 2-0 win in their semi-final match, in Kempton Park, on Saturday, September 5.

Cosmos forward Isaac Mokoena’s brace assured his side of a place in the final, which will see them square up against Zwide, following that side’s 5-0 victory over Alberton.

“The challenge with Boksburg was that I know most of their players,” said Cosmos coach Lex Ndlovu.

“We came into the match as underdogs and that was our strength.

”Boksburg lost focus and it really worked in our favour; we had nothing to play for and the cup was the only thing left.”

Asked to comment on his troops’ chances in the final, Ndlovu responded: “Zwide go into the final as the better team. They beat us 6-1 in the first round of the league and we beat them 2-0 in the second round.

“It’s been a good season; we improved greatly in the second round, but it was too late to put together a title charge.

”It could’ve been better, but I’m happy with the result.” – @SabeloBoksburg
