MMA local fighter Pierre makes inroads in the Junkyard

Following a year long hiatus from hexagon activity, Boksburg MMA fighter and EFC Africa star Pierre Botha is back.

Upon his return, Botha formed an alliance with Snake Eyes Athlete Management, under whom he fights, before joining MMA gym Junkyard, in Atlasville .

He has teamed up with trainers Thinus du Plessis, Ferdie Basson and Warren Knoop – who immediately helped him hit his straps.

With his fighting record standing at 3-3 and Junkyard in his corner, the featherweight’s first EFC appearance this year was at EFC 41, at Carnival City, where he squared-up against Sindile Manengela, who he defeated via unanimous decision, to improve his record to 4-3.

The 36-times SA wrestling champion again featured at EFC’s latest show, EFC 43, in Durban, where he defeated Nelson Feiteira via a split decision.

Their battle was later announced as the Fight of the Night.

“Pierre beat Nelson Feiteira standing, which I think is very impressive considering that Pierre is a wrestler,” said du Plessis.

“Nelson is a Brazilian jiu jitsu artist and a boxer, and he comes from a very well-respected gym in Durban.

“Pierre is improving, he’s back!”

Du Plessis also took time to express his acknowledgment to Botha’s support structure.

“I’d like to give a special thanks to our sponsors Masonic Liquors, Lady FE Coffee Bar, GG Hair, Gigaware, Anything Goes Rubbish & Rubble Removal, Curvent, Hair Lovers and K & K Mouth Guards.

“Special thanks to Junkyard MMA and thank you to EFC Worldwide for giving Pierre this opportunity. We’re expecting more and more from EFC.”

Du Plessis also took time to acknowledge Botha’s support structure.
