Boksburg Cricket Club names squad for Premier League season

The Boksburg Cricket Club’s 2015/16 Premier League squad sees the club retain the core of their spine, which helped them regain their Eastern Premier League status last season.

The new Premier League will have Boksburg’s name again, following the club’s Promotion League triumph, which earned them a spot in the local ultimate league.

Len Meyer will again lead the team into Premier League battle, where Boksburg will face heavyweights Kempton Park, CBC Old Boys and Benoni Northerns – to list a few.

Carel du Preez will be the squad’s deputy skipper and Herman Meyer Snr will manage them.

For emphasis on continuity, the team still includes stalwarts John Haywood, Sean Holder and Freddie Whitehorne, who produced fine batting displays last season.

The official Premier League schedule is yet to be released by Easterns, but the season is likely to begin in early October.

Boksburg Cricket Club remains the only Easterns side ever to win the National Club Championships – a tournament contested between winners of provincial leagues across the country.

Anyone interested in joining the club can contact Meyer on 082 921 6275.
