New middleweight champion to be crowned at EFC 41

Cedric Doyle will be looking to become the first man to beat undefeated champion Demarte Pena, who will put his bantamweight title on the line when EFC returns to its home, Carnival City, on Saturday, July 11.

Doyle (7-2-0), who’s known as The Dominator in the MMA fraternity, will be looking to do as his nickname suggests, to give himself any chance of knocking Pena, who has, ironically, dominated with 10-0-0 in the EFC thus far, off his perch.

Following the departure of Garreth ”Soldierboy” McLellan to the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), earlier this year, the vacant middleweight gold will finally land in new hands as the tough Michiel Opperman goes head-to-head with Liam Cleland for the title, in the night’s second title fight.

Also featuring on the main card are two former number one contenders, Bernardo Mikixi and Danie van Heerden.

The two will collide in their heavyweight bout for another chapter in their longevity-rich EFC books, with both having competed in the EFC from the very beginning.

The hugely promising event also features 10 more exciting fights, including former featherweight contender Wesley Hawkey versus Tumisang Madiba, and the headlining preliminary women’s fight between Hungary’s Zita Varju and South Africa’s Jacqualine Trosee.

All the action will also be exclusively broadcasted at selected Ster-Kinekor cinemas.- @SabeloBoksburg
