Boksburg puts Kempton to the sword

The Boksburg Rugby Club's first team side put on a ruthless performance as they slayed local rivals Kempton Park, 62-5, in a friendly encounter at their Prince George Park ground, on Saturday, March 28.

Both teams are preparing for the imminent start of the rugby season, with the Owls scheduled to welcome Vereeniging on April 11, for their first league match.

The away side, donned in a yellow and black, made a contest of the match in the first half, which saw little scoring opportunities.

But it was in the second stanza when the hosts took the game away from Kempton, as the flood gates opened with a rain of tries.

“Things are coming together as our first league game nears,” said Boksburg chairman Sean Scheepers.

“The performance was pretty much the same as last week (against Benoni), and the guys are really gelling well.”

In the day’s other results, Boksburg u-21 beat Kempton 26-17 while the second team defeated Bronkhorstspruit 14-10 to complete a clean sweep for Boksburg. – @SabeloBoksburg
