Liebenberg, Oosthuizen set to Stand and Deliver

The much anticipated clash between Ryno ''The Lion'' Liebenberg and Thomas ''Tommy Gun'' Oosthuizen, for the IBO light heavyweight title, is around the corner.

Featuring two of the country’s finest light heavyweights, the bout will headline Golden Gloves’ latest Stand and Deliver fight card, to kick-off this year’s boxing calendar at Emperors Palace, on Saturday, March 14.

“It’s no secret that Oosthuizen and Liebenberg have long wanted to get into the same ring,” said promoter Rodney Berman.

“Each has an army of loyal supporters and they have been clamouring for this fight.

”I have not put it on previously because their careers seemed to be heading in different directions.”

Former IBO super-middleweight champion Oosthuizen, who’s been widely tipped as the slight favourite, comes into this explosive clash at the back of a victory over Russian Denis Grachev, to win the WBC international title in his light heavyweight debut at the Palace, to maintain his unbeaten record.

The less fancied Liebenberg could do with a win after having suffered defeat in his most recent bout, against Eleider Alavarez, in Monte Carlo.

The banquet event will feature four bouts and will take place in the Palace’s Centre Court, in the Convention Centre.

Doors open from 6.30pm with action scheduled for a 7.30pm start. – @SabeloBoksburg
