Chance for youth to be part of a top sporting academy

Ekurhuleni boys and girls, between the ages of 14 and 16 years, are invited to showcase their skills in athletics, in order to stand a chance to be part of the Gauteng Sport Academy.

Ekurhuleni has scheduled trials for Saturday, February 28, at Germiston Stadium, from 8am to 5pm.

During the trials, the young athletes will be tested in various fields and track activities, such as 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, discus, high jump, javelin, shot put, steeplechase and the 5000m walk.

The best performers stand a chance to receive advance sporting development in athletics for a period of three years.

“For Ekurhuleni, accelerating sport development is non-negotiable,” said Ekurhuleni Metro spokesperson Themba Gadebe.

“We believe that identifying and nurturing of talent will contribute to the development of athletics in our country, and certainly will produce the biggest names in the international space.”
