Sport Planet – Cricket World Cup and so much more drama

The Proteas take-on India in a heavyweight clash at Australia’s iconic MCG ground in a match that will see the winner almost certainly securing a quarter-final spot, while there is also plenty of footballing and rugby action.

Cricket

Saturday, February 21. Pakistan v West Indies, Hagley Oval, Christchurch. Start time: 12am

My prediction: Pakistan

Australia v Bangladesh, Brisbane Cricket Ground, Woolloongabba. Start time: 5.30am

Logan Green’s prediction: South Africa to win, just!

MMA

EFC 37 Saturday night: Start time: 4.45pm

Rugby

Tonight

Vodacom Bulls v Hurricanes, Loftus Versfeld. Scheduled kick-off: 7.10pm

My prediction: The men from Pretoria have always been formidable at home and I don’t see that suddenly changing – Bulls by seven.

Saturday, February 21

DHL Stormers v Blues, DHL Newlands. Scheduled kick-off: 5.05pm

My prediction: Stormers by five

Cell C Sharks v Emirates Lions, Growthpoint Kings Park

Scheduled kick-off: 7.10pm

My prediction: The repeat of last year’s Currie Cup semi-final sees the Sharks renew their rivalry with the Lions. Of course, the Lions registered a famous victory in that match between these two foes, a 50-20 rout at Ellis Park. However, a lot can change in rugby in a space of four months and the Sharks are at home this time around, but it’s still going to be close: Sharks to win a cliff-hanger.

Soccer

Catch some Nedbank Cup action, the English Premier League, La Liga, German Budesliga, Serie A and French Ligue 1 throughout the weekend as well. – @SabeloBoksburg
