Running to help raise HIV and AIDS awareness

In stepping up the pace against HIV/Aids and strengthening efforts towards realising the goal of an HIV-free generation, the metro in partnership with Soul City held the annual World Aids Day half marathon at the Katlehong Sports Complex on Sunday, December 7.

The race, which serves to raise awareness about the pandemic, included three distances: the 5km and 10km road races and the 21km half-marathon.

Post-race events included anonymous and confidential HIV testing and other health screening tests.

Protecting yourself and your loved ones starts with knowing your status, but knowing your status and leading an active lifestyle ensures longevity and good health.

Athletes leave their blocks during the 21km race.
