Tribute to Meyiwa and Mulaudzi
The tragic deaths of two South African sporting icons, former world athletics champion, Mbulaeni Mulaudzi, and Bafana Bafana and Orlando Pirates goalkeeper and captain, Senzo Meyiwa, took place at the weekend.
The tragic deaths of two South African sporting icons, former world athletics champion, Mbulaeni Mulaudzi, and Bafana Bafana and Orlando Pirates goalkeeper and captain Senzo Meyiwa, at the weekend rocked the South African sports world.
Senzo has been an inspirational sports person for both his Premier League Club, Orlando Pirates, which is situated in the South at Rand Stadium.
He has been an inspirational leader, both of the national soccer team and Orlando Pirates. This year he has led Bafana Bafana to the top of a tough group that also includes defending champions Nigeria in the qualifying rounds for the African Cup of Nations.
In his current form former Bafana Bafana captain Itumeleng Khune would have battled to get his sport at the back of the net back.
Caxton East and South Division mourns the tragic loss of a great soccer player, Senzo Meyiwa, his young life and achievements,who has made a big impact for Bafana Bafana and Orlando Pirates at an early age and should be remembered for that.

Mbulaeni was a wonderful ambassador for athletics, both on and off the track. He won gold medals at the IAAF World Championships and the Indoor Championships as well as the Commonwealth Games, and was the number one ranked athlete in his discipline in both 2006 and 2007.
His death was caused by a shooting incident which happened at his girlfriend’s house in Vosloorus. Apparently two men entered the house at about 20:00 on Sunday and demanded his cellphone. Another person stayed outside. There were seven persons inside the house when the incident occured.
He was shot inside the house according to the police after a dispute with the two men and was shot. The intruders fled on foot. Nobody else was injured in the house.
The police has issued R150 000 for any information which can lead to the arrest of the intruders.
