BFC u-17 win Jomo Cosmos Cup

The Boksburg Football Club’s u-17 side edged out Tembisa 3-2 in a penalty shootout in the final of the Jomo Cosmos Tournament held in Elspark on Sunday, October 12.

Following a one-all stalemate during normal time, in which Blues striker Misharck McKet netted for his side, captain Kagisano Seforo, Keagan Africa and Kagiso Seforo buried their penalties to clinch the win.

Asked for his thoughts on his team’s performance throughout the one-day tournament, Blues coach Samuel Cosmas said: “These boys are the future of tomorrow; having won the Easterns Cup, they go on to win this tournament which shows that they don’t win by mistake.

“We’re ready to face any team any time,” crowed the coach.

Cosmas was referring to their domestic league’s Eastern Cup, which his side clinched last month – making the Jomo Cosmos trophy the second cup win in one month.

Boksburg defeated Pule Stars twice, Highlands City and Small Fire on their way to the final.

Boksburg u-12 fall short

Meanwhile, the Blues’ u-12 team, who played 24 hours before their stable seniors in the same tournament, crashed out in the quarter-final stage at the hands of Sporting FC by 2-1.

Coach, Ernest Seforo, praised his team’s outing despite the disappointment of being knocked-out.

“The boys played very well,” said the coach.

“They’re committed, determined and it’s unfortunate that they couldn’t make it to the semi-finals.

“I’d like to thank the boys for the job they did and the parents’ full support; I hope the support continues onto next season.” – @SabeloBoksburg
