The result keeps the Blues on course to finish as runner-up in their u/12 Division 2 Easterns League, which would send them through to Division 1, along with newly-crowned champions LFC.
“We were under pressure, but managed to equalise in the last three minutes of the second-half,” said Blues coach Ernest Seforo.
“I was impressed with the boys’ performance; it’s not always easy, especially playing away games.”
Goals were scored by Keamogetswe Mothibi (brace) and Thapelo Seforo.
* A week earlier, the Blues produced a dominant performance to collect maximum points against Benoni Northerns, with a 5-0 drubbing at PG Park on a sunny Sunday morning, September 7.The Blues went into the half-time interval at 2-0 up, with Keamogetswe Mothibi and Unathi Nkosi grabbing the goals.
Ernest Seforo’s men continued where they left off after the recession, with their attacks concentrated on Northerns’ left-hand side where they caused the visitors the most trouble.
The next goal would come from the very side where Oratile Dingiswayo made it three. The skipper received a low cross, which beat Northerns goalkeeper Caid Anderson, presenting Dingiswayo with the easiest of tap-ins.
The visitors, who saw little of the ball possession, struggled to get out of their half as the Blues’ tireless runners continued to cause havoc down the flanks.
Mothibi had a chance to make it a brace of goals having been on the end of a cross, but his shot was struck against Northerns’ Anderson, who was the busier of the two men in goal.
Mothibi had a second bite following his initial shot, but missed the target.
The onslaught from the homeside continued, however, and Thapelo Seforo put the contest beyond doubt with a well-taken low shot, which gave Anderson no chance.
Fullback Kabelo Potsane added gloss to the scoreline to hand his side a handsome 5-0 victory, which left his coach a delighted figure on the touchline.
“The boys performed very well, especially in the second-half. The first-half wasn’t all that bad either, but it’s the second-half where we came to the fore,” said Seforo. – @SabeloBoksburg
