Egypt, which is ranked third in the World Karate Federation, led the medals tally with 15 overall, followed by the host nation (11). South Africa shared the third position on the tally with Cameroon with eight medals apiece.
Sascoc recognised the championships as an official Karate South Africa event and awarded the senior team, led by Sensei Marius Madgwick of GKA, with their official national colours.
Madgwick and his teammates finished second in the Team Kata Division to Egypt.
The trio competed with 12 teams in the division, beating Mauritiana 5-0, Mali 5-0 and Ivory Coast 5-0 in the semi-finals.
