“Tommy Gun” relinquishes IBO super-middleweight title

IBO super-middleweight champion, Tommy Oosthuizen, has relinquished his title to chase light-heavyweight honours.

Oosthuizen, 26, who won the title back in March 2011 from Evert Bravo, has successfully defended it seven times.

His last fight, the last of his title defences against Ezequiel Maderna, was in November, having suffered trying times in which he fell out with his promoter and also had a stint in rehabilitation.

The unbeaten southpaw boxer (22-0-2, 13 KOs) has since reconciled with his promoter and has returned to the gym.

According the East Side Boxing website, Oosthuizen will make his return to the ring for his light-heavyweight debut against former African champion Doudou Ngumbu of the DRC in Monaco next month.
