Academy to tour Singapore and Malaysia

Boksburg’s Rowlin National Cricket Academy (RNCA) u-18 team will be flying the East Rand flag high at tournaments in Singapore and Malaysia.

The side departs for the two Asian nations on Wednesday, April 16.

Their first match will be a 50-over contest played against a Malaysian National u-18 side on April 19, followed by two T20 matches on April 20 against the same team.

Both games will be played in Kuala Lumpur.

The side will then leave for Singapore where they will face a Singapore National u-18 side in a 50-over match on April 22, and a 40-over encounter against the Singapore Cricket Club on the following day.

RNCA will conclude their tour in Malaysia where they will compete in an International T20 Tournament in Johor Bahru. There they will face a Malaysia, Singapore, Indian and Johor State.

“We’ve got a really good team going on this tour,” says coach, Ian Smith, when asked about his team’s preparations.

“We would love to win all our games but the Indian and Malaysian teams in the Johor Bahru T20 tournament will pose as big threats to us.”

The team returns home on April 29.
