Springs OB claim win over Boksburg

Springs OB duo of Jonathan Woolley and captain George Viviers, claimed a combined eight wickets to aid their side to a convincing 69-run home-win against Boksburg in their Sunday, February 16, Premier League clash.

The homeside, which won the toss and elected to bat, finished with a solid 247 all in 47.5 overs before proceeding to limiting the visitors to 178 all-out in 32.4 overs, courtesy of brilliant bowling from Woolley and Viviers who claimed four wickets apiece.

Springs began their innings disappointingly, which saw Warren Woolley exiting for seven. However, Woolley’s opening partner Dylan Smallberger, restored balance with a smashing 67 runs.

He was aided by JP de Klerk (31) and Chris de Freitas (10) to set-up the foundation the formidable total.

Wickus Germishuizen (26) and Viviers (26) also added a valuable 52 between them with Tyran Victor scoring 17.

Unlike his bowling partner in crime, Jonathan’s stay behind the bat was a brief one, as he got dismissed for five.

Boksburg started their chase on high, with John Haywood hitting 45 and fellow top order JP van Staden adding a further 40.

Apart from Sean Holder (27), none of Boksburg’s batters managed to make a significant addition.

Capt Len Meyer took 3/30 in 10 overs, which included one maiden to finish as his side’s stand-out bowler.

Next for both teams are tricky home games with Springs hosting United and Boksburg welcoming Actonville Spurs.
