Lockyer gives CBC OB comprehensive win
A Premier League 126-run haul by Nicholas Lokyer handed CBC OB a convincing 86-run home victory over United on Sunday, February 9.
United won the pre-match coin-toss and sent the home team to bat before watching them race to 235/ 7 in 50 overs.
Lockyer’s impressive innings, which lasted for 144 minutes, included 17 boundaries and one six – all from 115 balls.
CBC began with a slow start behind the crease, with the opening partnership of Wesley Coulenthianos (2) and Dylan Bennie (23) producing a tepid 25 runs between them.
Jarred Loyd’s contribution of a further 22 preceded Lockyer’s introduction which restored composure to the home side’s batting.
Tyrone Cameron (3) and Divan Posthimus (1) fell before Vincent Moore, who ended with an unbeaten 22, enjoyed a 92-run partnership with Lockyer.
Moore entered the fray to join Lockyer with CBC at 139/ 6 before the duo took the score to 231/ 7 – with Lockyer’s dismissal arriving with one ball remaining.
United struggled for consistency in their run chase after lunch with skipper Justin Gamble’s 24 making him their highest scorer of the day.
CBC’s Jean Rossouw destroyed the United batting line-up, taking 6/33 in 9.4 overs which forced the visitors to end on 149-all out in 43.4 overs.
