Hoerskool Oosterlig student flourishes at SA Champs

Krystal-Lee Lange of Hoërskool Oosterlig won two gold medals at the South African Equestrian Championships held in Kyalami from September 21 to 24 to cap a decorated year.

The Grade 8 pupil achieved her first gold for a jumping class individual event on Monday, September 23, and her second gold medal came the following day from a cohesive and collective effort from Gauteng’s A-team.

The team won gold in the Oklahoma Prix-Carpelli event to finish on a high on the last day of the championships.

The qualifying procedure for the championships saw Lange having to qualify for the Gauteng finals, which took part earlier this year.

She participated in four shows prior the finals and won all of them – but only three were considered to determine her qualification.

The top 12 participants at the finals, of which she was one of, then proceeded to represent Gauteng at the SA Championships.

Moreover, Lange picked up five awards at the equestrian prizegiving ceremony held at the school on September 17.

This included the Top-10 Rider and Horse Combination Award, Top Achiever, Hoërskool Oorstelig category B award, Dedicated Equestrian trophy, and an award for most points earned.
