The ultimate athletes’ sports day
A fund-raising sports fitness event is to take place on October 5 and 6 at the Sunward Park Sports Grounds in Boksburg to raise funds for the New Beginnings Family Care Centre.
“The more public awareness we get, the more funds we raise through both entries and spectators,” said Mike Jacobs, one of the organisers of the event.
There will be a potjie competition and other fun activities including jumping castles for children, food stalls, sports cars, motorbikes and a few other fund-raising events.
Apart from the fitness challenge, there will also be events for children.
The children’s events will be split into age groups such as seven to nine years, 10 to 13 years and 14 to 16 years.
All the events for females (young and old) will take place on October 5 and the male events on October 6.
The event will start at 7am on both days.
Anyone who feels that they are up for the challenge may enter; all competitors will receive a unique “one of a kind medal” and T-shirt.
“Anybody who wants to enter can go to Facebook and search ‘XL-Ultimate Athlete’ or visit the following website rockysbootcamp.co.za,” Jacobs added.
Alternatively anybody interested can enter on the day, however, that is not highly recommended as the entries are limited to 80 men and 80 women.
The limits are due to the time it will take to complete all the events.
