Solid work by local fighters

Trainers from Boxing Fitness Gym, based at Wild Waters, saw their fighters put on spectacular performances at Thursday's Boxing Extravaganza at Presleys.

Cruiserweight Deon Coetzee put on a convincing performance as he knocked out Emmanuel Molalo in 1:22:00 of the first round.

Coetzee landed a combination of punches, which Molalo could not answer.

Coetzee proved simply too much for his opponent. He boosted his record to seven wins and three losses.

Boksburg’s Stone van Aswegen put on a convincing performance, as he outclassed Jeff Otembo to win their welterweight clash.

He won by unanimous decision at 59-55 on all three judges’ scorecards.

Van Aswegen controlled the fight from the start to finish, and had no problems at all.

He fought a clever fight and it was no surprise that he got the decision.

The boxer is clearly comfortable in the ring, as he looked technically sound in the squared circle.

Another fighter from the gym at Wild Waters was debutant Chazz Peters.

He knocked out Prince Dlomo in the first round of their welterweight bout.

Peters landed big blows to his opponent, and it was only a matter of time when the fight would end as Dlomo did not seem to have an answer for him.
