Damelin College applicant Is happy after 7 months fighting for her money

A Damelin college student had been refunded her money after six months of writing countless emails to the institution.

Nelisiwe Motloung applied for an office admin course at Damelin Boksburg College last year October, after she browsed through the internet and saw that the campus offer the course.

She said that she called the campus and they verified that indeed the course was open for application and they helped her through the process and registration.

“After the application was successful, I paid the registration money together with the yearly course fees through their banking account,” said Motloung.

She said that the total money she paid was R36 000.

“I was told classes would start in February. The month came and went and I went to enquire about the classes. I was told by the reception lady that they don’t offer the course and she doesn’t know how they processed the application.” said Motloung.

“I was so shocked and confused about how was that possible. I asked for a refund and it was suggested that I take another course. I refused and again asked for a refund.

“I was told I would be refunded. They just need to contact the head of finance to process the money.”

She said weeks went by and received no feedback.

“I went to Damelin again to demand what was going on. They refunded me R10 000 and kept on saying they are waiting for the response from the head office to process the outstanding amount,” said Motloung.

Motloung went to the campus a few more times and kept on tracking the refund progress by emailing Damelin.
“They kept saying they are waiting for the response from the head office.”

She then contacted the Boksburg Advertiser, who contacted Damelin for comment.

No comment was received but were made aware that the full refund was made to the student on August 8.
