What is new? Yet another failure …

Howard Skeens from Sunward Park writes:

Another financial year slips by and the auditor-general blandly informs us that the local authorities have failed us again. What’s new!

You see, huge amounts of public funds have shifted from being reported as fraudulent and wasteful expenditure to irregular expenditure.

In fact a massive increase in irregular expenditure to the tune of billions of Rand!

Every year all the mayors jump around saying they have plans to improve the internal controls to reduce fraud and waste, improve service delivery and here’s the big one, attract investment to increase jobs.

All talk for the gullible cadres.

Fraud and waste have moved to irregular expenditure; residents have increased their protest action owing to zero service delivery and the socialist policies lavishly followed by the government do not encourage investment.

To boost the latter and increase job opportunities the Cuban vision must be deleted. China and India have succeeded and look at the results.

Ekurhuleni’s mayor has been under the radar on the auditor-general’s report. What’s happening Mr Mayor? Too busy with myriad projects that have the propensity to irregularly consume our funds?

What about some bold action like shafting some very expensive but incompetent comrades who have done absolutely nothing to improve efficiency?

Inform us, we can take it – the party and pals are far more important than the people.

Rather than ignore the auditor-general’s report at least feed us the usual rubbish about it’s under control and we have concrete plan to improve!
