It’s not all doom and gloom for the metro

Tracy Lockhart, from Boksburg North, writes:

Despite being constantly besieged with complaints about poor service delivery, it is not all doom and gloom for the Ekurhuleni municipality.

Despite grappling with several challenges and having a reputation for not helping, I have noticed positive things that the metro has done in the community, and so credit must be given where credit is due.

During the first quarter of the year the trees on my pavement were overgrown and encroaching on the power lines, and I contacted the chief horticulturist for Boksburg, who forwarded my details to the metro.

They came and trimmed the trees on my pavement and also cleaned up neatly afterwards.

Then, about two weeks ago, I phoned the metro to report a blocked and overflowing council-owned drain on my property. A few hours later, municipal workers arrived and the problem was fixed within 10 minutes.

I publicly thank all the people involved and Ekurhuleni for all the attention given to these matters.

Residents of Boksburg often lambast the metro for poor service delivery, apparently due to the alleged widespread apathy among its workers. But again, this is not always the case.
