Kudos to OR Tambo Hospital

Jenni Khoury from Boksburg writes,

These days people only ever seem to hear negative reports about state hospitals, but I would like to give a positive comment for a change.

My mother fell and broke her hip on April 1.

Being a state pensioner and not on medical aid, she was admitted at the OR Tambo Memorial Hospital.

After being in traction for a week, she was operated on and the break repaired. My mother was in hospital for 15 days, and we can’t complain about one single thing.

The nursing staff of ward five are a wonderful, compassionate, cheerful team of ladies, caring for their patients under very difficult conditions, with a limited budget our hospitals have to function on.

Yes, the hospital needs some TLC, but it is clean throughout.

I remember many years ago, long before 1994, no one wanted to go to the then Boksburg-Benoni Hospital.

So I was worried when I heard she had to go to OR Tambo, but my fears were found to be baseless.

So kudos to the management and staff of the hospital; keep up the good work, we really do appreciate it.
