Road rage irks motorist

"Concerned citizen" writes:

This is an open letter to the “gentleman” in the silver BMW, who wanted to kick the “living daylights” out of me and do some other horrible things to me that I can’t mention in this newspaper.

The incident happened on Friday, June 13, just after 6am, in Rietfontein Road. All this just because I was ”driving too close” to him in his big vehicle.

This was, however, during peak traffic.

So I was wondering, specifically, how far must other road-users keep their distance from this road rage motorist so that he can feel comfortable?

And no, the driver of the BMW and no other motorist can simply go around threatening people and swearing at them.

We must consider the times we live in, and that the person who is being threatened may be armed, which could result in a self-defence shooting.

Luckily, at the time I was thinking of myself and the other driver, so I didn’t react despite all the verbal abuse being hurled at me.

To this driver with road rage, and any other driver who might think they own the road: please think twice before jumping out of your car, because you may have a family who want their father or husband back at night after work.

As for myself, we certainly don’t want another farther or husband possibly spending time in jail trying to explain that what he did was in self-defence.
