Council, please see the light

Shaun Carter of Boksburg writes:

Claim Street in Boksburg East has become a death trap.

I am appalled that the entire street is in pitch darkness because the metro failed to replace the streetlights when they stopped working, saying there were no resources to perform the task.
This opened the door for criminals to steal the wiring and light fittings, leaving the very long Claim Street in pitch darkness.
Why do we pay taxes when we have been waiting for years to see these streetlights fixed?

We are not second-class citizens in this country, where equality should reign, yet we still suffer.
Even the road markings have not been painted in years.

I reported this problem to the relevant authorities weeks ago, yet no lanes have been painted.
Does the council care for us, or now that they have our vote, is it incompetent business as usual?
Our taxes matter.
We should not live in fear of what could lurk in the bushes when we leave our homes in the dark to go to work.
Ekurhuleni, we demand service, and we demand it now. Paint our roads and fix our streetlights.
