Thank you for your help, gentlemen

Anita van der Schyff, of Sunward Park, writes:

I would like to thank the two kind Sanral employees who helped me after I got a flat tyre while travelling on N17 east recently.

I’m a 64-year-old woman, and I had never changed a flat tyre in my life.

I was on my way home just after lunch when I had a flat tyre on the freeway.

I immediately pulled off and phoned my husband for assistance. But he was delayed due to traffic congestion caused by traffic lights that were out during the rotational power outages.

There I was nervously standing on the side of the road under a bridge waiting for my husband, when two gentlemen from Sanral, VEA Road Maintenance and Civils pulled over beside me in their bakkie.

By that time I was shaking because anything bad could have happened to me.

The very friendly pair alighted from their bakkie and started to help.

My husband also arrived and they thereupon realised that the spare wheel was half flat.

My husband went to one of the garages in Sunward Park, while the two men waited with me.

They told me that they realise I was standing at a crime hotspot, where I was an easy target for hijacking or something worse.

My husband came back and the two men helped him to change the tyre.

So glad that we still have people like them in our community.

Again, thank you Elishia and Tony for being there for me. May God bless you.
