Littering an issue in Boksburg area

The Advertiser asked a few locals what they think can be done about littering?

Lucas Morapedi: People have taken advantage of the fact that the metro is not fining anyone for littering. That has to change in order for people to stop littering. The metro has to take littering seriously and ensure that those who are doing it are fined.

Brendan Kruger: Littering is rife in our area so l solely believe the metro should enforce the fines to prevent such issues. The recyclers should be permanently employed by the metro because they are keeping the environment clean. Littering is a health hazard to people so those who are doing it should be fined.

Sandile Ndlovu: The metro must impose a littering fine because people don’t care for the environment and animals. In the past, you would be fined for doing that. The metro must employ people who will monitor the littering activities. Littering causes rodents and people to be sick.

Martin Moremi: People dump their refuse at the open spaces in our area and they know nothing will happen to them, so if a fine can be imposed on them by the metro, they will think twice about doing it. I have also seen several people throwing things out of their cars, if they can know that you are fined for that, they will stop doing it.
