Residents weigh in on service delivery issues in their areas

The Advertiser asked locals if they are seeing any improvements in their areas in regards to service delivery.

Lungisani Dube (Delmore): “Our local government has failed us, especially us who live in informal settlements. We have written memorandums and petitions to the metro’s electricity department, requesting electricity in our area but our pleas have fallen on deaf eyes.”
Sphamandla Dlamini (Joe Slovo): “There is no service delivery in our area even though we have been voting for years. They always say we must vote to see change, but I haven’t seen any change in my area. We still don’t have houses. They’ve told us they will re-block our areas in order to instal electricity but till today we are still waiting.”
Elize Obrien (Reiger Park): “Service delivery in our area is still slow. Street lights in some parts of the are not working for years. Our roads are not in a good condition. Our area is a big area, but we only have two parks.”
