In the light of the extended lockdown having a dire effect on the economy, the Advertiser recently asked a few locals how they are coping financially.

Smart Ousman: “I’m surviving, but unfortunately I’m now only allowed to work two days a week during the lockdown, which means Iess money.”

Brian Human: “I’m coping because I already purchased the essential products I need and I saved money so that can I buy things if I run out.”

René Jordaan: ”The lockdown has a negative financial impact on senior citizens, but I’m coping well because I’m privileged to have children who are helping me.”

John Deminy: “The coronavirus is not affecting my financial state as I’m on pension and I don’t have investments. My children are, however, struggling to earn a salary during the lockdown.”
