Local matrics optimistic about finals despite certain challenges

They all want to follow their dreams after grade 12.

Boksburg High School matriculants shared their views on the final exams with the Boksburg Advertiser. The exams started on October 31 and end on December 9.

Thandokuhle Dhludhla said he was nervous at the thought of the upcoming exams but his nerves calmed after he wrote his first paper on October 31.

“I’m focusing on doing well. Load-shedding has affected my studying, but I will not blame load-shedding if I don’t do well. There are areas in South Africa that don’t have electricity at all and the learners who live there still do well at school. I’m expecting to pass my exams even under these dire conditions,” said Dhludhla.

Njabulo Shange said the only problem he had was deciding which subject to study first.

“I’m determined to do well. I usually get to school on time by bus. I hope it will stay this way. My wish is to pursue my dream of being an IT specialist after I pass matric.”

Omphile Mashiane said she hasn’t been affected by load-shedding as she makes time to study based on the load-shedding schedule.

“If you want to achieve something, you have to find the means to achieve it. I sometimes go to my relatives’ homes to study if there’s load-shedding in my area.

“The only problem I have currently is that I sometimes arrive late because of the traffic congestion on the N12,” said Mashiane.

“I want to get better marks than in previous exams.“

Amarachi Gregory said she believes so far she has done well.

“I hope I will continue doing well in my other subjects. Currently, I have to balance studying with my home chores and it’s a bit difficult. It would be great to only focus on my studies without the home chores to worry about and will speak to my parents about this.”

Masedi Mogotsi has developed a studying timetable but is struggling to finish her examination paper in the time allocated.

“I will try to check the time from now on when I’m in the exam sessions because I aim to pass Grade 12,” said Mogotsi.
