Two killed, five injured in crash

The cause of the crash is undetermined and still a subject of investigation.

Two people have been killed and five others injured in a crash involving a bus and minibus taxi on Berry Marais Road near Vosloorus on October 15.

Emergency services had to use Jaws of Life to free the trapped unresponsive occupants of the minibus taxi. The bus wasn’t carrying any passengers.
According to Disaster and Emergency Management Services (DEMS) spokesperson William Ntladi, DEMS’ rescue team responded to the scene after the crash was reported at about 07:50.

The accident resulted in a temporal closure of the stretch of road on Tuesday.

In the taxi, emergency services found six occupants, including the driver.
The taxi driver and three of his passengers, who sustained moderate to critical injuries, were transported by ambulances to a nearby hospital. The bus driver escaped with minor injuries.

“Two adults from the taxi had to be extricated using Jaws of Life and unfortunately, due to intense injuries sustained, they were declared dead on the scene by paramedics. The deceased were taken to the Germiston state mortuary.”

The cause of the crash is undetermined and still a subject of investigation by the EMPD.
