Local judoka continues to excel

Kayden Barnard from Hoërskool Oosterlig continues to make a strong impression as a judoka.

The Protea judoka from the Kaizen Judo Kwai Club in Lambton was recently selected to represent SA at the Africa Judo Championships in Cameroon from August 12 to 19.

In February, Barnard achieved gold at the national ranking event/trials when he participated in the U17 (60kg) cadet group four category.

This April, he achieved gold in the Commonwealth Judo championships in Malta in the U18 (60kg) cadet group.

This championship was an incredible experience for him.

“You are never too experienced to learn more,” he said.

He eagerly anticipates the upcoming championship.
