Mandela’s legacy celebrated

This year, Mandela Day was commemorated under the theme: ‘It’s still in our hands to combat poverty and inequity’.

The Boksburg SAPS and BrightBridge Academy were among those who heeded the call to make a difference in the community for Mandela Month.

Boksburg SAPS
Members from Boksburg SAPS celebrated Mandela Day with the community of the Jerusalem informal settlement on July 19 by holding a soup kitchen.
The initiative was led by the support head, Lieutenant Colonel Badelisile Ndwandwe.

Apart from feeding the needy, the members donated clothing.

The law enforcement officers also handed out over 200 pamphlets about gender-based violence.
Other stakeholders include Boksburg North SAPS, support members, COGTA, CDW, community safety, youth, GBV brigades, patrollers and local pastors.

Workforce Healthcare
Workforce Healthcare did their 67 minutes of kindness for Mandela Day at the Boksburg SPCA on July 18.
Representatives from the company helped the society with bathing doggies.

Furthermore, they cleaned donation bins, feeding and water bowls. They also organised storage rooms and tidied the front gardens.

BrightBridge Academy
The academy also opened its heart to the Boksburg SPCA on Mandela Day, donating items such as dog food and blankets.

Moreover, Brightbridge’s learners painted and decorated a special Madiba art piece as part of the school’s Little Picasso activity.
