Scouts receive donation of solar lights

The group is grateful for the donation.

City Solar recently blessed the 2nd Boksburg Scout Group (St Michaels) with two solar lights.

According to the director of City Solar, Duarte da Silva, they company is a supporter of Scouts and always willing to help where needed.

Scout group leader Francois Coetzee expressed his gratitude.

“We mostly camp off-grid and these lights will enable us to light up our camp site and also replace some of our older lights that run of batteries, which is better for the environment,” he said.

The 2nd Boksburg Scouts has been operating since 1916.

“We have a very proud Scouting history and have shaped hundreds of young boys and, more recently, girls into leaders and responsible members of society,” Francois said.

The group consists of three age groups – Meerkats (five to six), Cubs (seven to 11) and Scouts (12 to 18).

The objective of the Scouts is to teach young people life skills and foster a love for the great outdoors while enjoying themselves.
