Foundation tackles period poverty, GBV

The foundation is grateful for all the donations received.

The Humanity Foundation collected 500 packets of sanitary products in March for its sanitary and toiletry drive supporting International Women’s Day (March 8).

In addition to the sanitary products, the foundation received 100 body wash bottles from Collette Oosthuizen.

The items go to four organisations dealing with GBV in Boksburg, Benoni, Kempton Park and Springs.

Founding member and chairperson of The Humanity Foundation Pierre Marneweck said the project is part of the foundation’s continued efforts to advocate an end to GBV.

He added that “period poverty” is a reality and that too many girls and women miss school and work because they do not have the basic needs when menstruating.

Marneweck thanked all the stakeholders who contributed to the initiative’s success.

“I am pleased with the outcome. Thank you for your unwavering support and donations,” said Marneweck.
