Road deaths keep EMPD busy

The EMPD responded to these cases over festive season.

The EMPD has provided a festive season round-up, noting an arrest and several fatalities on Boksburg roads.

Arrest
The Tactical Response and Tracing Unit officers, with SAPS Intelligence Unit members, arrested a 29-year-old male and confiscated an unlicenced firearm in the Vosloorus area on December 18 at 14:30.

Following up on information received about the ‘wanted suspect who committed heinous crimes in KwaZulu-Natal’, the Nquthu section, a hostel on McBotha Drive, was raided.
Officers arrested the suspect after finding him with a 9mm pistol and five live rounds.

He was charged with possession of an unlicensed firearm and live ammunition.

Accidents
• On December 19 at 17:21, a male motorbike rider died after his bike crashed into a sedan on the N12 freeway in an easterly direction at the R21 split.

• On December 23, in Vosloorus, a male pedestrian died after being hit by a sedan on the N3 freeway in a northerly direction between the Barry Marais onramp and Leondale offramp at 00:26.

• On December 29 at 17:37, a female driver died after a crash between a sedan and heavy motor vehicle at the corner of Keurboom Street and the R554 at 17:37.

• On December 30, a female driver died in an accident involving two sedans on Kingfisher Road, between Barry Marais Road and Kobus Durand Street.

• On December 31, a male pedestrian died on the N12 between Atlas and Rondebult roads after a hit-and-run at 21:48.
