Church to celebrate 75 years in authentic Portuguese style

For the past 75 years, Our Lady of Fatima Portuguese Catholic Church in Brentwood Park, Benoni, has been a beacon of light and hope to it faithful members.

The church was erected in 1948, thus making the parish one of the city’s oldest gems.

On October 15, members as well as the community are invited to celebrate this milestone anniversary by joining in on the celebrations on the church grounds, 54 Great North Road.

There will be heaps of fun and entertainment for the little ones while vovo’s, tios and tias can sate their hunger by indulging in traditional Portuguese prego and bifanas.

For a mere R75 revellers can enjoy the lunch special which will be served at 14:00.

Once full, get the feet stomping and the hips swaying to the live performances by DJ Vix and Claudio Alho.

For those wanting to give thanks in a more traditional manner, Massa Dominical will be held on October 14 at 18:00 with the main mass being held on the day of the event, at noon.
