Finally: Power is fully restored to Boksburg’s northern suburbs

Yesterday, the metro resorted to implementing load rotation on four-hour intervals in areas that were still without power due to prolonged work to replace the faulty cables.

The City of Ekurhuleni (CoE) has just announced that power has been fully restored to Boksburg’s northern suburbs, which were left without power for over a week.
This follows a fire that broke out at Witkoppie substation last week.

While some of the suburbs affected by the damages to the major substation on Atlas Road had their power restored last week, other areas including Impala Park, Witkoppie Ridge and some parts of Bardene and Beyers Park have had to endure a week-long blackout.
According to CoE spokesperson Zweli Dlamini, multiple cable faults hampered efforts to restore power to these areas within the initially estimated time of September 25.
As a result, yesterday the metro resorted to implementing load rotation on four-hour intervals in areas that were still without power due to prolonged work to replace the faulty cables.
The team has finally managed to restore power to the outstanding suburbs, which included Beyers Park, Bardene and Bartlett.
