Man trying to evade stop-and-search arrested for unlicensed firearm and ammunition

A man in his 30s was arrested for possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition on Main Reef Road on September 8.

According to Boksburg North SAPS station commander Colonel Mack Mngomezulu, the suspect was driving in a silver Ford Figo towards Knights Road, when he saw members were conducting a routine stop-and-search.

He then made a U-turn. Members of the police noted and gave chase till Angelo.

Police searched his car and found a firearm and 26 rounds of ammunition.

He could not produce the license for the firearm and was arrested. There other three passengers that were in the car fled the scene.
