Boksburg Bowling Club (BBC) donated a bakkie-load of cat and dog food along with items for the Boksburg SPCA charity shop to the organisation on August 19.
The president of BBC, Ian Croasdale, said the donation is worth over R6 000. The club raised the money at a bowling day on August 9.
“The SPCA always needs help, and we took up the role to assist. Some of our members donated more food and items for the SPCA shop and we took all those items to the SPCA. I am sure the club has supported the SPCA in the past and we will continue to do it,” he explained.
He added he would like to thank all Boksburg Bowling Club members, including their friends, for their support in the humanitarian course.
Vicky Finnemore, SPCA manager, said their dry food stock was already low.
“Therefore, we are always delighted when we get support from our community, especially with animal food donations, as this helps a lot.
“As an NPO, we cannot afford to buy food for 60 to 70 dogs in the kennels, so donations from individuals and companies are vital for the survival of the animals in our care,” she said.
