NWS Boksburg karateka perform exceptionally well at the championships

The NWS Boksburg karatekas aim to do well in the next karate competition.

The New World Shotokan (NWS) Boksburg won 18 gold, 11 silver and 13 bronze medals at the New World Shotokan National Festival of Karate Championship on August 5.

According to the sensei of New World Shotokan Boksburg, Takis Chaniotakos, the Boksburg dojo scooped the top spot as the best club with 252 points in the championships.

“The NWS Gauteng, which was made-up of the Boksburg, Benoni, Witbank, Kempton Park and Vaal dojos, won the provincial category.

Among 60 karateka that represented NWS Gauteng, 29 of them were from the Boksburg dojo,” said Chaniotakos.

Karatekas from the New World Shotokan (NWS) Boksburg competed in the championships.

He said he was pleased with the achievement of his dojo, and the Gauteng teams in general.

“The competitors had prepared themselves weeks before the event, and they all went to the event with one intention, which was to win and have fun.

“They also went there to meet friends and measure their skills against each other. My karateka were motivated by me and their fellow karateka,” explained Chaniotakos.

“We also won the junior Shotokan Cup, which was a huge milestone for the Boksburg dojo. We are going to compete in the Dojo Cup Challenge next, which will be held on September 2 in Brakpan,” he concluded.
