No timeline on water outage, tankers have been deployed

It is still unclear when the water supply will be restored.

A water outage in large parts of Boksburg since yesterday is causing frustration for residents.

The affected areas include Van Dyk Park, Parkrand, Parkdene, Cinderella, Libradene, Farrar Park, Boksburg South, Boksburg East and the CBD.

According to Ekurhuleni metro spokesperson Zweli Dlamini, there is a problem with the power supply to the Mapleton booster station.

He could not confirm when the water supply will be restored.

Ward 32 Councillor Marius de Vos said the water pressure in the area was low at about 06:00 and at about 12:00 taps run dry.

“I have been in contact with stakeholders, including Rand Water, to try and find out if this is part of the planned water shut down and could not get confirmation when it will be fixed.

“Residents are frustrated and it is within their rights because there is not enough information available to give them clarity.

“Many businesses are also affected.”

De Vos highlighted there is a water tanker in Van Wyk Louw Drive and near the Alan Woodrow Park Retirement Village.
