Gracious Gift Foundation holds drive for good cause
The Gracious Gift Foundation was established on August 16, 2021.
The Gracious Gift Foundation and other organisations donated 75 blankets and fed 200 underprivileged people in Boksburg North on July 1.
Of the 200 people the organisations fed, 45 were children aged between two and 11.
The chairperson of the Gracious Gift Foundation, Peter Fouche, said they collaborated with Eternal Life Christian Church Boksburg, Glocal Outreach and the Boksburg North SAPS to make the charity drive possible.
“Eternal Life Christian Church Boksburg and Glocal Outreach assisted us with funds for the soup kitchen and blankets. They also took their time to help us set up the soup kitchen we held at the Boksburg North Clinic’s parking lot. We thank the clinic for giving us the space at the parking lot to host the soup kitchen.”
He mentioned their primary focus, for now, was to aid underprivileged people in Boksburg and Benoni, and as the foundation grew, they would branch out to other areas close to the towns.
“Last December, we did a charity drive in Boksburg and donated personal hygiene packages to the elderly and gift packs to children at the St Francis Care Centre. The gift packs for the children contained toys and sweets.
“It was an extremely emotional event for us because it looked like most elderly people had been forgotten by their families,” he explained.
Fouche said although older people had problems, they gladly helped fill the grandparents’ role for orphans at the centre.
“This year, we plan to donate 20 matric dance dresses to underprivileged matriculants so they can enjoy their matric dance. All the dresses were donated by wonderful people who wanted to make a difference.”
He mentioned they also plan to donate 100 two-piece raincoats to homeless people this summer.
“We plead with people to assist our charity drives with any type of donations,” he concluded.
Anyone wanting to assist the foundation may call Fouche on 082 889 9049.
