Property valuation roll is out for comment

The public was urged to stick to the timelines to avoid problems regarding late submissions.

The CoE’s supplementary property valuation roll is available for public comment, and residents have until July 31 to object if they disagree with an evaluation.

The Local Government Municipal Property Rates Act 6 of 2004 legislates the CoE to provide fair and equitable valuation methods of properties. It is on course to finalise the valuation process for the 2021-2025 property valuation roll.
Property owners should view the valuation roll on the city’s website to analyse how it evaluated their properties.

“Residents who are unsure of the value of their properties can approach certified private valuers or area specialist estate agents to ensure their objections get lodged with proper market evidence,” explained the metro’s spokesperson, Zweli Dlamini.

If the CoE incorrectly valued a property, residents can visit their nearest Customer Care Centre (CCC) for help. Appeal forms are available at the CCC, or residents can download them from the city’s website.
“The public must seize the opportunity and stick to the timelines so we do not have late submissions,” advised Dlamini.
