ERYO wows fans during festival

The event began on June 10 and concluded on June 11.

Fans were mesmerised by the harmonious sounds of the East Rand Youth Orchestra (ERYO) during their Concerto Festival at the EJ Butler Auditorium at St Dunstan’s College on June 10 and 11.

Dressed mostly in black, with a few ladies adding colour to complement the group’s sartorial elegance, the orchestra members wowed the audience with perfect performances.

The repertoire on day one included the Saint-Saëns’ Carnival of Animals performed in two piano duets.

Megan du Plessis performed Climb Every Mountain.

First, Marie Naude and Isabella Martins performed the intro, lions and the Van Straaten siblings, Naomi and Laylah, executed the pianists.

“It’s a magnificent and wonderful composition full of joy and humour,” said conductor Pienaar Fourie.

It also featured soprano solos by Crystal Willemse, who performed Memory from Cats, and Climb Every Mountain was performed by Megan du Plessis. Hailey Orren performed Gottfried Heinrich Stölzel’s aria, Bist Du Bei Mir.
