Free acting classes in full swing

The community theatre company will not be hosting a full-scale production this year.

The Protea Stage Productions Theatre Academy is open and welcomed its first students on May 13.

Young and old jumped at the opportunity to take to the stage to participate in the newly established free musical theatre classes.

The community theatre company will not be hosting a full-scale production this year, but has decided to dedicate its time to expand on its repertoire by launching the academy, aimed at developing a new generation of local actors.

The free musical theatre classes are available to all ages and will teach all aspects and styles of acting, singing, dancing, stage etiquette, vocabulary, script writing, stage management, sound, lighting and loads more.

Collaborating with Keyboard Magic, participants will be eligible to attain international certification in Musical Theatre.

Students will undergo graded examinations through Rockschool, the international Rock Music Exam Board which will assist budding performers gain the necessary certifications to the benefit of pursuing a career on stage and film.

Classes are held every Saturday, from 09:00 to 11:00 at Benoni Church of Christ, 93 Great North Road.
