The Boksburg Advertiser’s car boot sale at the Bokkie Park on May 6 was again a hive of activity.
The car boot sale is held in conjunction with the Bokkie Park Food and Craft Market on the first Saturday of each month.
Take note, from June the Advertiser will no longer administer or run the car boot sale.
This has been handed over to the market organiser, Janine Richardson.
One of the vendors, Ansie Sargent who has been attending craft markets since the 1980s, pointed out how much she enjoys the car boot sale.
“I found my love for craft markets during Covid-19 because everything was put on hold. After Covid, when the market and car boot sale reopened, I was very happy and I look forward to many more because it’s where I can make extra income,” she added.
Two youngsters, Luan van Coller (11) and his brother Louis (14), sold their old toys for pocket money.
Numerous vendors took advantage of an opportunity to sell items that will make great Mother’s Day gifts.
Mugs, necklaces, bracelets, second-hand handbags, shoes, kitchen utensils and more were sold at stalls.
Three sisters who recently lost their mother were among the vendors offering Mother’s Day gifts.
Henna Swart, Celia De Koker and Marilese van Heerden said that although they cannot give their mom a gift this year, they wanted to ensure that a mother somewhere felt special with a gift from their stall.
Daniela Salgado, Ria Salgado and Angie Marques were also selling Mother’s Day gifts.
“We believe Mother’s Day can bring families together. A mother should always be appreciated for bringing life into this beautiful world,” Angie said.
The next Bokkie Park food and craft market and car boot sale is on June 3.
